Set in 1979, the story follows Mike Milo, a former rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder. His former boss, Howard (Dwight Yoakam), asks for a life-altering favor: travel to Mexico and bring back Howard’s estranged 13-year-old son, Rafo (Eduardo Minett).
What begins as a simple mission evolves into a meandering road trip across the backroads of Mexico. Along the way, Mike and Rafo develop an unexpected bond, accompanied by Rafo’s prized cockfighting rooster, "Macho".
