In the English dub of Detective Conan (often titled Case Closed ), is the classic 1-hour special titled " The Mist Goblin Murder " (or " The Mist Goblin Legend Murder Case "). It is widely considered one of the series' most atmospheric and "impossible" locked-room mysteries. The Story: The Mist Goblin Murder

While driving through the mountains to see cherry blossoms, Kogoro Mouri (Richard Moore), Ran (Rachel), and Conan get a flat tire. Stranded, they find shelter at a secluded mountain temple called Sannoh Temple. The head priest, Tenei, and his four disciples—Kannen, Tonnen, Mokunen, and Shunen—initially try to turn them away but eventually agree to let them stay for a fee.

Conan realizes the murder was committed using a massive hydraulic trick. The culprit used the temple’s location next to a waterfall to with water overnight. The killer sealed the doors and windows.

The monks tell them the chilling legend of the Kiri Tengu (Mist Goblin), a winged demon that haunts the mountain on foggy nights. The goblin is said to have superhuman strength, supposedly breaking through walls to snatch people and hang them high in the temple's rafters. Conan notices a massive, high-ceilinged room with a small hole in the wall, which the monks claim was the site of a "goblin murder" two years prior.

The next morning, the head priest Tenei is found hanging from the rafters of that very same training room— nearly 10 meters (33 feet) above the floor . There is no ladder long enough to reach that height, the only door was locked from the inside, and a new hole has been smashed through the high wall. To the monks, it seems the Mist Goblin has returned.
