Gain access to the top of the transmission housing.

Remove the top cover of the transmission if possible. Use a brass drift and a hammer to gently tap the shifter rods or detent balls to free them. Avoid excessive force , as synchro collars are delicate. 4. Post-Correction Maintenance Once free, perform the following to prevent a recurrence: freetranny

Spray a high-quality penetrating oil (like PB Blaster or WD-40 Specialist) into the shifter mechanism and let it soak. Gain access to the top of the transmission housing

With the wheels on the ground, gently rock the car back and forth while applying light pressure to the gear stick to help pop it out of gear. Avoid excessive force , as synchro collars are delicate

Verify the clutch hydraulics are working. If the clutch isn't fully disengaging, the gears will remain under tension and won't move. 3. Mechanical Intervention

A transmission usually sticks because the shifter rods, detent balls, or synchro collars have oxidized or settled into a "locked" state.
