The "story" unfolds across various twisted locations—from the classic campgrounds of Crystal Lake to high-rise rooftops in Manhattan and even the corridors of a deep-space research vessel. In each "level," Jason must navigate obstacles like campfires, open water, and bear traps. He can’t stop moving once he starts, sliding across the floor until he hits a wall or a victim.

His goal is always the "Final Girl" or "Final Guy," but he must systematically eliminate every other counselor or victim first to unlock the path. As he progresses, the spectral head of Mrs. Voorhees cheers him on, providing "helpful" tips on how to properly execute his prey. It’s a repetitive, bloody loop of logic and slaughter, where the only way out for Jason is to solve the puzzle of his own eternal bloodlust.
