Following a massive shootout between Borlund, Poe, and Vargas's gang, Borlund eventually faces off against his old rival, Joe Cribbens, and kills him in a quick-draw duel. Borlund, Rachel, and Poe survive and go their separate ways, with an epilogue noting that Borlund continued bounty hunting for the rest of his days.
